ألبرت جوزيف مور، الرسام الإنجليزي المرموق، أبصر النور في الرابع من سبتمبر عام 1841 في مدينة يورك بالمملكة المتحدة. ولد في كنف عائلة فنية بامتياز، حيث كان الابن الثالث عشر والطفل الرابع عشر للرسام الشهير بالبورتريه ويليام مور وزوجته الثانية سارة كولينغهام. ولم يكن موور وحيداً في شغفه، بل تخرج العديد من إخوته كفنانين، ومن بينهم هنري موور، عضو الأكاديمية الملكية والرسام البحري البارز. تلقى ألبرت تعليمه في مدرسة أرشبيشوب هولغيت ومدرسة سانت بيتر في يورك، وهناك، تحت إشراف والده، بدأت بذور الموهبة تنمو من خلال دروس الرسم والتلوين التي تلقاها في كنف عائلته.
