It was under her guidance in Athens that Altamouras began to cultivate the technical mastery that would eventually define him as a pioneer of Greek Impressionism.
The trajectory of his development was marked by rapid ascent and international exposure. After studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts alongside contemporaries like Nikiphoros Lytras, Altamouras’s talent caught the attention of King George I. This royal recognition manifested in a prestigious scholarship to Copenhagen, where he studied from 1873 to 1876 under the influential Carl Frederik Sørensen.
