أوتو مولر، ذلك الاسم الذي يُهمس به غالباً جنباً إلى جنب مع رواد التعبيرية الألمانية، كان فناناً متناغماً بعمق مع إيقاعات الطبيعة وحيوات المهمشين على أطرافها. وُلد في عام 1874 في ليباو بسيلسيا – التي تُعرف الآن بلوبافكا في بولندا – وبدأت رحلته وسط طبيعة خلابة ستطبع بصمتها الأبدية على رؤيته الفنية. منحتْه تدريباته الأولى في فن الليثوغراف (الطباعة الحجرية) في غورليتز وبريسلاو مجموعة مهارات تأسيسية، وإتقاناً للخط والملمس سيصبح سمة مميزة لمعظم أعماله اللاحقة. واصل دراساته في الأكاديميات المرموقة في دريسدن وميونيخ، ورغم أن تقييماً جافاً من فرانز فون ستوك في الأخيرة قاده إلى فترة من الاستكشاف الذاتي المستقل، إلا أن تلك السنوات التكوينية شهدت امتصاص مولر لتأثيرات الانطباعية، وفن "اليوجندستيل"، والرمزية، ومع ذلك ظل روحاً قلقة، تبحث عن صوت فريد يخصها وحدها.

ظلال الحرب والإرث
مثل الكثيرين من جيله، تأثرت حياة مولر بعمق بالحرب العالمية الأولى؛ فقد خدم كجندي في الجبهتين الفرنسية والروسية، وهي تجربة تركت أثرها بلا شك، وإن لم تغير أسلوبه الفني بشكل جذري. بعد الحرب، قبل منصب الأستاذية في أكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في بريسلاو، مكرساً نفسه للتدريس حتى وفاته في عام 1930. ومن المأساوي أن أعماله وقعت ضحية للتطهير الأيديولوجي للنظام النازي في عام 1937، حيث تمت مصادرة أكثر من ثلاثمائة قطعة من المتاحف الألمانية ووُصفت بأنها "فن منحط". ورغم هذا القمع، صمد الإرث الفني لمولر؛ فاليوم، يُعرف كشخصية محورية في الحركة التعبيرية، وفنان لا تزال تصويراته الحساسة للإنسانية والطبيعة تلامس قلوب الجمهور في جميع أنحاء العالم. إن عمله يظل تذكيراً مؤثراً بقدرة الفن على تجاوز الحدود السياسية والتحدث إلى الحالة الإنسانية العالمية.
