A Versatile Visionary of Stage and Screen

František Lipták is a Slovak artist, painter, production designer, visual artist, illustrator, scenographer, and costume designer. His creative journey began with studies in graphics at the Secondary School of Art and Industry in Košice, followed by specialized training in theatrical scenography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. His professional involvement in theater began as a student in 1985, designing sets and costumes for the Jonáš Záborský Theatre in Prešov. He has since worked in nearly all Slovak theaters, as well as in theaters across the Czech Republic and Poland. In 1990, he served briefly as the production manager at the State Puppet Theatre in Bratislava before co-founding the independent theater group Teatro Tatro as a scenographer.

      Cinematic Mastery and Artistic Expression

Since 1991, Lipták has focused extensively on film scenography, establishing a significant collaboration with director Martin Šulík on numerous projects. His diverse body of work includes contributions to films such as Zahrada, for which he received a Czech Lion in 1995, and Lajka, which earned him a Czech Lion in 2017. His expertise extends to working with various directors, including Václav Vorlíček, Miroslav Šindelka, and Agnieszka Holland.

Beyond the screen, Lipták is a gifted multi-disciplinary creator. He produces graphic designs, creates costumes, and illustrates publications. In his free painting, a characteristic figure of a stylized human emerges, serving as a symbol for humorous interpretations of texts. His artwork has been presented in various international locations, including Poland, France, Austria, Germany, Canada, and the Czech Republic.
