A Life in Rotterdam Hendrik Martenszoon Sorgh lived his life within the boundaries of Rotterdam. He was born there around 1610 and remained in the city until his death in 1670. His days were shaped by the local guilds and the quiet rhythms of Dutch domesticity. In 1633, he married Adriaantje Hollaer. His professional standing grew within the community, leading to his role as headman of the Rotterdam Guild of St. Luke in 1659. His early
