Early Life and Artistic Training Born in Zechau, Germany, on 24 June 1950, Walter Libuda entered a world that would eventually shape his identity as both a painter and a plastic artist. His early years in Germany provided the foundation for a career defined by a commitment to visual form and spatial exploration. Before establishing himself in the academic and professional circles of Leipzig and Berlin, he began his practical engagement
with the stage, working as a theatre painter at the Landestheater Altenburg starting in 1968. His formal education took a more structured turn in 1973 when he enrolled at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. This period of study, which lasted until 1978, was central to his development as a draughtsman and painter.
