A Life of Words and Illustration John Bennett was an American author and illustrator who became a prominent figure of the Charleston Renaissance. Born in Chillicothe, United States, he began his creative journey by learning to draw as a child, developing a particular skill in the art of cutting silhouettes. After working for a newspaper, he pursued formal training at the Art Students' League in New York. His literary success arrived wit
