Early Life, Family and Training Anton Burger entered the world on 14 November 1824, born within the Free City of Frankfurt. His early years were shaped by the steady rhythms of his home city, where the seeds of a versatile talent began to take root. He was a man destined for many forms of expression, eventually becoming a prolific painter who would find his way into almost every genre of the craft. His formal path toward mastery began
at the Städelschule, where he spent his formative years from 1842 to 1846. Under the watchful eyes of his teachers, Johann Jakob Jung, Jakob Becker, and Philipp Veit, he learned to observe the world with a keen eye.
