Early Life, Family and Artistic Training Georgia O'Keeffe was born on November 15, 1887, in a farmhouse near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She grew up as the second of seven children in a family of dairy farmers. Her father, Francis Calyxtus O'Keeffe, and her mother, Ida Totto O'Keeffe, raised her in this rural setting.
