A hat, dark and perhaps mystical, rests upon her hair. She is a solitary anchor in a shifting space. Around her, the edges of the world dissolve into shadows and half-formed shapes.

      Meet the painter: Chaim Soutine

A Life Forged in Turmoil: The World of Chaim Soutine

Chaim Soutine (Szmilovics, Minszk mellett, Orosz Birodalom, 1893. január 13.

An Expressionist Apart: Style and Influences

Development and Defining Works

      Recognition, Legacy, and Lasting Impact
