Early Life, Family and Training Annie E. Duff entered the world in 1871 in Carleton Place, Ontario. She grew up within a large, bustling household as the second-youngest of nine children. Her parents, William and Elizabeth A. Duff, had brought their Scottish roots to the Canadian landscape, establishing a life that would deeply influence the girl's developing eye.
