Auguste Mathieu
The Life and Art of Auguste Mathieu Born in Dijon, France, Auguste Mathieu was a versatile artist who worked as a painter, engraver, lithographer, and architectural painter. A student of Pierre-Luc-Charles Ciceri, Mathieu began exhibiting at the Salon at the age of twenty-six in 1833, a practice he maintained until his death in Paris. His artistic journey took him across Europe, including several stays in Germany, where he captured various views of civil and religious architecture.
