A Life Interrupted by Shadows Munich, 1903. The foundations of Erna Amend’s artistic identity begin in the classrooms of the Volksschule and Oberschule, eventually leading her to the halls of the Kunstgewerbeschule. By 1932, she is a student at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, refining her vision under the guidance of Professor Julius Hess.
