Thomas Cool
Early Life and Artistic Beginnings Born in Sneek, Netherlands, Thomas Cool was the son of a marble company owner specializing in mantelpieces and funerary monuments. Following the loss of his mother in his infancy, he demonstrated a talent for drawing at a young age. At eighteen, he was sent to the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp to further his education, where he became friends with the artist Frederik Nachtweh.
