Teodor Talowski was a Polish architect and painter born in Zasów. His professional journey began with studies at a gymnasium in Kraków, followed by architectural training in Vienna under Karl König. He later moved to Lviv to study at the Lviv Polytechnic under Julian Zachariewicz, graduating in 1881. His career saw him return to Kraków as a professor at the Higher School of Technology and Industry, and he eventually served as the chair of the Department of Drawing and the Department of Medieval Architecture Composition at Lviv Polytechnic.
His architectural work was characterized by eclecticism, blending historicism with Art Nouveau and Modernist influences. Throughout his career, he designed various structures across Galicia, including apartment buildings, churches, chapels, and public buildings in cities such as Kraków and Lviv. Notable residential works include the apartment buildings at 1, 7, 9, and 15 Retoryka Street, as well as his own house, Under the Spider, on Karmelicka Street.
Talowski's architectural legacy includes over 70 churches, such as the Church of St. Elizabeth in Lviv and St. Mary of the Perpetual Assistance Church in Ternopil. His diverse portfolio also features the Lubicz Street Viaduct in Kraków and the Brothers Hospitallers of St. John of God Hospital. His family tomb is located at the Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków, where he was interred following his death in Lviv.
