A Life Shaped by Change The life of Daniel Blok was one defined by movement and the shifting tides of European history. Born around 1580, he carried the legacy of his father, Marten Blok of Utrecht, into new territories. His early years were marked by a pursuit of skill that took him far from home, eventually leading him to Gdańsk. It was there, under the guidance of Jakob Scherer, that he began to refine his ability to capture the likenesses of others through portraiture.
