Artistic Beginnings and Collective Work
Born in Amberg, Germany, Sara Rogenhofer is a visual artist who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich from 1973 to 1980. During her studies, she became a co-founder of the painting group WeibsBilder between 1977 and 1988. This group utilized expressive painting and collective works to explore the concept of a female imagination.
Her practice involves a dialogue between the materiality of color and the imagination. Her works emerge from the physical application of layers of material onto canvas through bodily gestures, creating spaces and forms that evolve through this ongoing interaction.
