Trained by the landscape painter Édouard Delvaux, his artistic journey began with his first exhibition at the Brussels Salon in 1836. Throughout his career, he was a frequent contributor to the triennial salons in both Brussels and Antwerp, presenting his works until 1860. Beyond the canvas, Schoofs demonstrated a remarkable breadth of interest; in 1855, he filed a patent in London for an invention involving a system for fixing artificial teeth, gums, and palates. He was also a published writer, releasing a bilingual edition of Chants et chansons de Bruxelles in 1858, a work noted for its form and substance. He passed away in Saint-Gilles.
