      tidlig liv og opplæring

      Bernardo Strozzi, også kjent under tilnavnene il cappuccino og il prete genovese, var en fremtredende italiensk barokkmaler og graver som ble født i 1581 i Genova, Italia. Hans tidlige kunstneriske dannelse fant sted i atelieret til Cesare Corte, en mindre kjent genovese-maler, og under hans veiledning foredlet Strozzi sine ferdigheter frem til 1596. Deretter søkte han videre mot verkstedet til Pietro Sorri, en nyskapende maler fra Siena, som ledet Strozzi mot en mer naturlig og levende stil.
