Later Years and Death

From 1848 to 1856, he maintains his membership within this circle. During the mid-1850s, he participates in the Cervarofesten in 1854, 1855, and 1856.
Tragedy strikes during a sea voyage. The cholera claims his life around 1857. He does not face the illness alone; his wife and his brother Christian die alongside him. The voyage ends in a sudden, collective loss.
