After studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts alongside contemporaries like Nikiphoros Lytras, Altamouras’s talent caught the attention of King George I. This royal recognition manifested in a prestigious scholarship to Copenhagen, where he studied from 1873 to 1876 under the influential Carl Frederik Sørensen.
