The Brussels Academy and the Rise of the Lithographer Brussels, 1827. A young Charles-Louis Baugniet enters the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. He sits under the instruction of Joseph Paelinck and Florent Willems, absorbing the technical rigors of his craft. By 1827, his hands are already busy with the first attempts at lithography.
