      1

      The Absinthe Drinker

      1876 · Olje na platnu · Musée d'Orsay, Pariz

Édouard Manet’s “The Absinthe Drinker,” completed around 1859, stands as a pivotal work in his oeuvre and arguably the first truly significant painting born from his burgeoning artistic vision. Initially dismissed by critics who favored academic conventions, this deceptively simple composition—a Parisian café scene featuring two figures seated at a table—quickly cemented its place within the annals of Impressionism and continues to fascinate viewers today.

      Ženska, ki se suši

Akril na platnu · National Gallery, London

S pojavom v Franciji v drugi polovici 19. stoletja je impressionizem izzival tradicionalne umetnostne konvencije. Umetniki, kot je Degas, so odstopili od zgodovinskih in mitoloških motivov in se namesto tega obrnili k scenam sodobnega življenja.

Plesna ura (1873) by Edgar Degas
      3

      Plesna ura

      1873 · Olje na platnu · Musée d'Orsay, Pariz

Vstopiti v prostor Edgara Degasa in njegro “Plesno uro” pomeni premagovanje temporalnih meja in vstop v svetišče disciplinirane grace.

      The Bellelli Family

Oil On Canvas · Musée d'Orsay, Pariz

In the quiet, shadowed corners of a Parisian room, Edgar Degas captures something far more profound than a mere family gathering. The Bellelli Family, painted between 1858 and 1867, stands as an exquisite masterwork that transcends the boundaries of traditional portraiture. It is not simply a record of faces, but a psychological landscape where every gaze and posture whispers of unspoken tensions and deep-seated emotions. As one gazes upon this…

It’s a work that invites speculation, prompting us to confront uncomfortable truths about human relationships and…

Mlada plesalka, ustavljena sredi nastopa, močno stisne buket v…

Meet the painter: Edgar Degas

      Življenje Edgara Degasa

Pariz, leto 1834.

Njegov pogled se udomovijo plesalke, pralnice in pariški dirki, s čimer zajema fizične posledice truda in bežne gibanje na odri

Konec nastopi v Parizu 27. septembra 1917.

      Mladost, družina in izobraževanje

Pariz, leto 1834. Hilaire-Germain-Edgar De Gas, sin bankirja in Célestine Musson De Gas, kreolke iz Louisiane, New Orleans, vstopa v svet buržojske stabilnosti.

      Tehnika in umetniški slog

Edgar Degas zavrnil oznaki impresionista.

Svetloba v Degasovi kompoziciji redko predstavlja naravno svetlobo.

      Ključna dela in tematike

Scena in stable prevladujejo v njegovem vizualnem svetu.

Njegov umetniški dosežek sega vse do zasebnega in psihološkega podsobja.

      Dediščina in trajni vpliv

Prelom v umetnosti konca 19. stoletja najde svojo osrednjo figuro v umetniku Edgar Degas.

      Kje videti njegova dela danes

Sledi Degasovega natančnega opazovanja so razpršene po številnih svetovnih muzejskih institucijah, ohranjene v tihih dvoranah Pariza in zอรve.
