Artistic Practice and Performance
Julius Deutschbauer is an Austrian painter, author, and artist. His multifaceted practice includes the establishment of the Library of Unread Books, a project he has operated since 1997. This library is characterized by its presence in various new locations. In 2008, he founded the performance group Theater des Verhinderns. His work often centers on posters that parody political themes. Additionally, from October 2022 to June 2023, he organized a series of reading demonstrations in various district museums in Vienna, where participants march through streets, parks, supermarkets, and cafes to read aloud from books.
