His presence in the art history of the region is felt through his careful observations of the urban environment.
His brush captured the specific character of Flemish life, focusing on the structures and spaces that formed the backbone of the community. Through his eyes, we see the city not as a static monument, but as a place of texture and light. His paintings offer a way to look back at a specific moment in time, preserving the visual essence of the streets and buildings that defined the era.

Historical Presence
Neve's contribution to the art of the period is found in his ability to translate the physical reality of Leuven into a visual medium. His paintings are more than mere depictions; they are records of the light and shadow that fell upon the Lakenhal and the Oude Markt.
