      Frühes Leben und Ausbildung

      • Geboren: 30. November 1867 in Kápósvar, Ungarn.
      • Vaszary entstammte einer angesehenen katholischen Familie; sein Onkel war Kolos Ferenc Vaszary, der Erzbischof von Esztergom.
      • Seine künstlerische Ausbildung begann an der Ungarischen Akademie der Bildenden Künste unter der Leitung von János Greguss.
      • Im Jahr 1887 setzte er seine Studien in München bei Gabriel von Hackl und Ludwig von Löfftz fort, was ihm ein solides Fundament in traditionellen Techniken verlieh.

      Pariser Einflüsse und künstlerische Entwicklung

      • Ein entscheidender Wendepunkt trat ein, nachdem er die Werke von Jules Bastien-Lepage gesehen hatte, was Vaszary dazu bewog, im Jahr 1899 nach Paris zu ziehen.
      • Dort schrieb er sich an der Académie Julian ein, tauchte tief in die pulsierende Pariser Kunstszene ein und öffnete sich neuen künstlerischen Strömungen.

      • Bedeutender Erfolg: Im Jahr 1905 erwarb Kaiser Franz Joseph eines von Vaszarys Gemälden, „Der Ackerknecht“, was einen Wendepunkt in seiner Karriere markierte.
      • Seine Arbeiten stellten oft Szenen des täglichen Lebens, Porträts und Landschaften dar, die durch lebendige Farben und einen ausdrucksstarken Pinselstrich bestachen.
      • Zu seinen bemerkenswerten Werken gehören „Der Morphinist“, „Frau im Garten sitzend“ und „Gladiolen“.

      Erster Weltkrieg und spätere Jahre

      • Während des Ersten Weltkriegs diente Vaszary als Korrespondent an der serbischen Front. Diese Erfahrung verlieh seiner Bildsprache eine größere Dramatik und Intensität.
      • Nach einem weiteren Aufenthalt in Paris kehrte er zu seinen impressionistischen Neigungen zurück, was seine Fähigkeit unter Beweis stellte, seinen Stil stetig anzupassen und weiterzuentwickeln.

      Gründung der KÚT und letzte Ruhestätte

      • Engagement: Im Jahr 1924 war Vaszary Mitbegründer der „Képzőművészek Új Társasága“ (Neue Gesellschaft der Künstler), bekannt als „KÚT“ („Brunnen“ auf Ungarisch).
      • Im Jahr 1926 wurde er mit der Gestaltung von Wandgemälden für das Biologische Institut in Tihany beauftragt.
      • Nach seinem Rückzug aus dem Berufsleben plante er, sich dauerhaft in Tata, Ungarn, niederzulassen, wo er eine Villa besaß und häufig malte. Er verstarb jedoch überraschend 1939 in Budapest.
