      Frühes Leben und Ausbildung

      • Sir Hubert von Herkomer (geboren Hubert Herkomer am 26. Mai 1849 – gestorben am 31. März 1914) war ein deutscher-geborener britischer Maler, Filmemacher und Komponist.
      • Seine Familie stammte aus Bayern, hatte aber finanzielle Schwierigkeiten; seine Mutter ergänzte den Einkommen durch Musikunterricht.
      • Herkomers formale Ausbildung war aufgrund von Krankheit begrenzt, und er kehrte nach dem Krankwerden in jungem Alter nicht zur Schule zurück.
      • Er begann mit künstlerischer Ausbildung in Southampton, bevor er 1866 an die South Kensington Schools für eine ernstere Studienrichtung ging.

      Künstlerische Karriere & Entwicklung

      • Herkomer zeigte erstmals 1869 in der Royal Academy seine Werke und markierte damit den Beginn seiner professionellen Karriere.
