Evolution of Form and Series
Uglow's body of work evolved through various series and experimental formats. At Lorence-Monk, he exhibited his "low rider" paintings and a four-panel piece titled Signals, which featured sound. At Stark Gallery, he presented a sound piece titled Coach's Bench, which was inspired by football.
Beginning in 1992 and continuing through 2009, Uglow produced a series of paintings titled Standards. These works were 7' x 6' and were installed on wooden blocks. This series was related to Portrait of a Standard, a series of silk screens that used the Standards paintings as their subject and utilized the same dimensions and blocks.
