Franz Molt began his path in the classrooms of the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, where he first learned the precision of lithography. His hands were trained early in the technicalities of the craft before he moved toward the more expansive studies at the Akademie der bildenden Künste. There, under the guidance of Josef Dobrowsky and later Ferdinand Andri at the Meisterschule, he refined a way of seeing that favored the essential over the ornamental. His life was not confined to a single studio; he spent significant time in London and Paris, absorbing the light and the rhythms of those cities before returning to the familiar landscapes of Austria.
His work often moved between the clarity of the figure and the quiet pull of abstraction. He did not abandon the human form, but he stripped it down, seeking a simplified version of reality that felt more direct.
