Pick from our preset sizes that match the artwork's original proportions.
Type the width and the height you need, to fit your frame or your wall. A print can only be cut, never made bigger than the picture, so a size with a different shape loses a part of the image. We send you a digital mockup to approve before we print anything. The picture shown on this page does not show the real cut — only the mockup does.

Born in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany, Károly Lotz was the youngest of eight children. Following the death of his father, his family moved to Pest, which is now part of Budapest. His artistic journey began as a pupil of the Hofkapellmeister Destouches and continued under the guidance of Jakab Marastoni in the academy of the Venetian master. He furthered his training in Budapest under Henrik Weber and in Vienna with Carl Rahl.
His early career saw him working as a romantic landscape artist, focusing on scenes of the Alföld, the Hungarian lowland plain. He eventually transitioned into creating monumental murals and frescos, adopting a style reminiscent of the Venetian master Tiepolo. His later years were marked by significant public commissions, including the "Apotheosis of the Habsburg Dynasty," a massive ceiling fresco in the Royal Palace, which he completed in 1903.
Lotz was a highly influential figure in the Hungarian art world, serving as a professor at various art academies in Budapest. In 1885, he became the dean of a newly established department for women painters. His artistic output was vast, spanning various public and private spaces, including:
He was known for his portraits and nudes, often using his wife and daughters as models. After marrying the widow Jacoboy, he signed his works as Károly Jacoboy-Lotz. Upon his death in Budapest, he was honored with a state funeral and interred inside a memorial.
