Artist Biography

sun k. kwak is a korean artist born in seoul in 1966. she currently lives and works in new york city. kwak received her ma in studio art at new york university (nyu) in 1997. she is known for her site-specific installations, sculptures, and drawings, often created with unconventional materials such as masking tape, thread, and vinyl. her work explores the themes of space, time, and movement, and challenges the traditional boundaries between art and everyday life. kwak has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, including the venice biennale, the museum of modern art in new york, and the mori art museum in tokyo. she has also received several awards and recognitions for her contributions to the art world.
