Pick from our preset sizes that match the artwork's original proportions.
Type the width and the height you need, to fit your frame or your wall. A print can only be cut, never made bigger than the picture, so a size with a different shape loses a part of the image. We send you a digital mockup to approve before we print anything. The picture shown on this page does not show the real cut — only the mockup does.

Born in Berlin, Germany, to a family of Huguenot descent, Charles Hoguet was the son of Michel François Hoguet and Emilie Hoguet-Vestris. His artistic journey began in his hometown, where he studied painting under Wilhelm August Krause at the Academy of Arts starting in 1839. Seeking further refinement, the eighteen-year-old traveled to Paris in 1840. During his time in France, he studied under Eugène Cicéri and later, from 1842, under Eugène Isabey. His technical skill and craftsmanship earned him significant recognition in France, including a gold medal at the Paris Salon in 1848.
After traveling through Western Europe, Hoguet returned to Berlin in 1848, where he lived and worked until his death. His prolific output included 423 oil paintings, with a particular focus on marine subjects, sea coasts, the sea, Normandy, Helgoland, and still lifes. His work was frequently exhibited at academic art exhibitions in Berlin, earning him a gold medal there in 1859 and an induction into the Berlin Academy in 1869. His subject matter spanned various genres, including windmills, sailors, and landscapes. His artistic legacy also includes his stepdaughter, Elise Hedinger, who was his pupil.
