A Life in Scenography
Eduard Sturm was a German theatre designer. Born in Hagen, Germany, he began his professional journey through training in his father's decoration business. His artistic development was significantly shaped by his connection to the Museum Folkwang in Hagen under Karl Ernst Osthaus. He later studied in the architecture class at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf under Peter Behrens.
Sturm's career was deeply intertwined with the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, where he served as an artistic advisor during two distinct periods. His work there included planning a nature theater in the Schlosspark Benrath, a project commissioned by Louise Dumont. Following his time in Düsseldorf, he became a founding member and board member of the Künstlervereinigung Das Junge Rheinland.
Theatrical Contributions and Later Years
