The Raw Poetics of Chaos
Born in 1965, Fabien Roussel has emerged as a profound contemporary voice within the intersection of digital innovation and street culture. His practice is a visceral homage to the Basquiat Graffiti aesthetic, where the artist utilizes primitive, sketchy lines to navigate the tension between urban decay and luminous structure. Through his masterful use of scrawled text overlays and iconic crowns, Roussel creates a visual language that speaks to the subconscious, inviting viewers into a world of raw, uninhibited expression.
A Dialogue with the Historical Gaze
Roussel's digital compositions are far from mere reproductions; they are complex explorations of tactile silence and kinetic energy. By layering chaotic compositions over rough, textured backgrounds, he achieves a sense of depth that mimics the grit of a metropolitan wall. Each stroke serves as a deliberate interruption of the digital plane, establishing a rhythmic dialogue with the historical gaze of neo-expressionism while maintaining a distinctly modern, digital edge.
