Her work explores themes of vulnerability, intimacy, and the beauty found in everyday objects, presenting them with an understated grace that belies their symbolic depth. Murray’s artistic journey began at Harris Manchester College, Oxford, where she pursued theological studies alongside honing her painting skills. This formative experience instilled within her a deep appreciation for humanist values—social reform and compassion—which permeate throughout her oeuvre. This monumental piece exemplifies Murray's signature technique—a masterful blend of Mexican muralism’s bold color palettes and textural richness alongside surrealist explorations of subconscious imagery. The artwork depicts a pair of hands resting on a head, rendered in vibrant hues against a textured background reminiscent of Diego Rivera’s iconic murals. Critics lauded the piece for its evocative symbolism – representing resilience, contemplation, and the interconnectedness of human experience—solidifying Murray's reputation as an artist capable of conveying complex emotions through deceptively simple compositions.
