His academic training began in 1912 at the Breslau Academy of Art and Applied Arts, where he studied under several instructors, including Hans Poelzig and Oskar Moll. Following his studies, he obtained his state examination as an art educator in 1917 and worked in Breslau, Kattowitz, and Opole.
