      Première Vie et Origines

      • Naissance et Famille : Antonietta Raphaël est née à Kaunas, en Lituanie (alors faisant partie de l'Empire russe) en 1895. Elle était la plus jeune de quinze enfants du rabbin Simon Raphaël et de Katia Horowitz.
      • Premières Années et Éducation : Suite au décès de son père et à une montée de l’antisémitisme, la famille déménagea à Londres en 1905. Elle a reçu une formation musicale à la Royal Academy of Music et a enseigné le piano et le solfège.
      • Exposition à l'Art : Bien qu'elle se concentrât principalement sur la musique, elle fréquentait le British Museum, développant un vif intérêt pour la sculpture égyptienne et suivant des cours du soir d’art.

      Développement Artistique et la Scuola Romana

      • Déménagement à Rome : En 1924, Raphaël déménagea à Rome où elle fréquenta l'Accademia di Belle Arti.
      • Rencontre avec Mario Mafai : Elle rencontra et entretint une relation de toute une vie avec le peintre Mario Mafai, qu’elle épousa en 1935.
