Hijack Ritual Peint à la main à l'huile, coup de pinceau après coup de pinceau

Dafne Boggeri: Sculptor of Emotion and Echoes of Ritual

Dafne Boggeri, born in Tortona, Italy, in 1975, is an artist whose practice transcends conventional boundaries—a testament to her belief that art should actively engage with its audience. Her journey began amidst the fertile creative landscape of Milan, where she honed her skills and established herself as curator of SPRINT – Independent Publishers and Artists’ Books Salon (O’ non profit space), a pioneering initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue between artists and publishing houses. This commitment to collaborative exploration profoundly informs her artistic vision. Boggeri's work is characterized by an immersive approach, prioritizing installation art and performance pieces that invite viewers into active participation. Rather than presenting finished artworks passively, she seeks to generate experiences—moments of contemplation and interaction—that resonate deeply with the human psyche. Influenced by Surrealism’s fascination with dreams and subconsciousness, Boggeri employs techniques rooted in sculpture and printmaking, blending meticulous craftsmanship with conceptual daring. Her sculptures often explore themes of vulnerability and resilience, mirroring the enduring spirit of humanity against challenging circumstances – as exemplified in “Hijack Ritual,” a striking stone sculpture depicting Christ overlooking the sea, capturing both faith and fortitude. Realistic and atmospheric, this Italian artwork speaks to universal emotions. Her artistic explorations extend beyond sculptural forms; Boggeri’s involvement with TOMBOYS DON’T CRY—a queer collective group—further enriches her perspective on identity and representation within art. This collaborative spirit underscores her conviction that artistic discourse thrives on diverse voices and perspectives. Furthermore, Boggeri's dedication to independent publishing is evident in Atomic Activity Books, where she champions experimental deviations and non-standard behaviors. Her salon serves as a crucial platform for emerging artists’ books and fosters a critical engagement with the role of printmaking in contemporary culture. Boggeri’s artistic career gained significant momentum through participation in collective exhibitions like ‘Revolt, She Said!’ in 2006, showcasing her ability to engage with broader artistic conversations. Her work has been recognized by institutions such as Careof Milan and La Criée Centre d'art contemporain Rennes, France, solidifying her position within the international art scene. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Boggeri’s enduring legacy lies in her unwavering belief that art possesses the power to provoke thought, inspire empathy, and ultimately transform our understanding of the world around us—a conviction that continues to drive her creative endeavors today.
