      Vincenzo Foppa était un peintre italien de la période Renaissance.       Jeunesse et formation

      On sait très peu de choses avec certitude sur sa vie et sa formation artistique précoces. Né à Bagnolo Mella, près de Brescia, la région ne disposait pas d’une scène artistique forte à l’époque. Cela a probablement nécessité qu'il cherche une formation ailleurs. Parmi ses premières influences figuraient les fresques de Gentile da Fabriano dans la chapelle du Broletto à Brescia et la *Annonciation* tissée par Jacopo Bellini. Bellini semble avoir été une influence significative, certains suggérant que Foppa a été directement apprenti auprès de lui. D'autres apprentissages possibles incluent Bonifacio Bembo. Certains historiens proposent une formation précoce à Padoue avec Francesco Squarcione, bien que ses premières œuvres présentent des similitudes stylistiques avec Pisanello et Gentile da Fabriano.
