      Bernardo Strozzi, conosciuto come il Cappuccino e il Prete Genovese, nacque a Rossiglione, vicino Genova, nel 1581, in un periodo di fervente attività artistica nella città. La sua formazione iniziale avvenne nell’atelier del modesto pittore cesare corte, un artista che operava all'interno della tradizione manierista genovese. Sotto la guida di corte, Strozzi affinò le sue abilità tecniche e sviluppò una sensibilità per i dettagli e l'eleganza formale tipiche dello stile dell’epoca. Tuttavia, nel 1596, un cambiamento significativo segnò il suo percorso artistico: entrò a far parte del laboratorio di pietro sorri, un pittore senese noto per la sua innovativa visione naturalistica. Sorri, con la sua attenzione alla luce e ai colori, introdusse Strozzi a una nuova prospettiva, spingendolo verso uno stile più libero e espressivo, lontano dalle rigidità del manierismo. Questo passaggio segnò un punto di svolta nella sua carriera, aprendo le porte a un’interpretazione più personale e vibrante della pittura.
