      • Nata: 10 ottobre 1878, Monongah, West Virginia
      • Morta: 1 giugno 1956
      • Nettie Blanche Lazzell nacque in una fattoria vicino a Maidsville, West Virginia, da Mary Prudence Pope e Cornelius Carhart Lazzell. Suo padre discendeva da pionieri che si erano stabiliti nella contea di Monongalia.
      • Crescendo come nona di dieci figli, fu soprannominata "Pet" dal fratello Rufus.
