Silent Treatment is an artwork by Johan Deckmann (Copenhagen, Denmark), an artist and practising psychotherapist. Humour is one of the great pillars of his production, but also psychology and psychoanalysis. Through these “one-liners”, related to mental health and the many ills of contemporary society, he connects the viewer with the work on a deeply personal level. Deckmann combines humour, observation and an accessible visual language to address everyday existential dilemmas. The subdued tones and visible textures of his works are reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s, while his pithy expressions highlight the irony, beauty, and tragedy of everyday life.
