The Still Life of 1669
The Dutch Golden Age produces a specific kind of silence through the oil on canvas. In 1669, A. Hase captures this stillness. The work, titled Still Life, exists within the collection of the Statens Museum for Kunst. It is a study of objects, a quiet arrangement that demands a close gaze to understand the textures of the era.
The composition measures 580 mm in height and 485 mm in width. Every element within the frame is a deliberate choice of light and shadow. The medium of oil on canvas allows for a precision that defines the genre. It is a window into a moment of domestic or material arrangement, frozen by the brush.
A Legacy in Oil
A. Hase remains a figure tied to the specific traditions of Dutch painting. The artist's output is marked by the meticulous rendering of the physical world. In the 1669 work, the focus is not on movement, but on the weight and presence of the subjects. The accession number KMSst128 marks its place in the historical record, a singular point of reference for a painter whose life is defined by these quiet, material observations.
