Life and Artistic Training
Rudolf Hause was a German painter born in Strasburg an der Drewenz, Westpreußen. After spending his youth in Genthin, in what is now Saxony-Anhalt, he began his formal artistic education at the Mal- und Zeichenschule of Ernest Blanc-Garin in Brussels. His training continued in Munich at the Mal- und Zeichenschule of the Academy of Fine Arts under Moritz Weinhold. Following his studies, he moved to Karlsruhe to attend the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste under Ludwig Schmid-Reutte, graduating in 1903.
Returning to Munich, Hause established himself as an independent artist. He became a member of the Munich Secession in 1919, eventually serving as its secretary from 1946 to 1954. He was also a member of the "Freie Vereinigung Chiemgauer Künstler," known as "Welle," which planned exhibitions on the Herreninsel and later at a wooden pavilion in Stock near the Chiemsee.
