Frans Geffels was a Flemish painter, printmaker, architect, stage designer, and designer of ephemeral structures. Born in Antwerp, he trained under Daniel Middeleer and became a master in the local Guild of St. Luke. His career was defined by his long service to the Dukes of Mantua, where he held the position of prefetto delle fabbriche.
