Isaak Izrailevich Brodsky entered the world in late 1883 in the village of Sofiyivka, located near Berdiansk in what is now Ukraine. He began his formal training at the Odessa Art School, where he learned under the guidance of instructors such as G. A. Ladyzhensky, K. K. Kostandi, and L. D. Iorini. In the imperial capital, Brodsky entered the Higher Art Institute of painting, sculpture, and architecture under the Imperial Academy of Arts.
