The Life and Career of Christian Winck
Christian Winck was a painter, fresco painter, and engraver of the late Rococo period. Following his training with Anton Scheidler in Eggenfelden, he studied in the workshop of Johann Jakob Feichtmayer in Eichstätt before moving to Augsburg. After a brief stay in Freising, he settled in Munich, where he was active from 1760.

His professional standing was significantly elevated in 1769 when he was appointed as the court painter to the Bavarian Elector, a title that allowed him to sign important commissioned works as Aulae Boicae Pictor.
