The life of Serafín Avendaño
Serafín Avendaño began his presence in the world on 2 August 1837 in Vigo. His path as a painter took shape early, with his period of work stretching from 1853 until his death in 1916. He moved through the years between the coastal air of Vigo and the later days spent in Valladolid.
His hands worked with paint for over sixty years. This long duration allowed for a steady accumulation of technique and a quiet persistence in his craft. The records of his life show a man who remained dedicated to the canvas through many decades of change.
