John Heartfield: The Weapon of Dada

Helmut Herzfeld, later known as John Heartfield (1891-1968), wasn’t merely an artist; he was a revolutionary who harnessed the power of photomontage to confront the horrors of fascism and Nazism. Born in Berlin during a period of burgeoning artistic experimentation—the Dada movement—Heartfield quickly distinguished himself from his contemporaries with an uncompromising dedication to political activism disguised as art.
