Richard Winther was a Danish artist whose creative practice spanned a vast array of mediums. He was a painter, film director, and writer who explored the boundaries of visual expression through graphics, photography, sculpture, and collage. His early involvement with Linien II was characterized by a spontaneous-abstract style that eventually transformed into a geometric-abstract movement. He also explored the characteristics of the De Stijl and Konkret Art movements and ventured into lithography during the 1950s. In later years, his focus shifted toward painting the human body and exploring themes such as Hieronymus and the biblical flood, often described as recycled classicism.
